Greetings Everyone
I hope you are all enjoying you
summer. I would like to welcome all our new members and also our many
loyal members that faithfully come back every year.
Because we
have a good number of new Auxiliary members, I would like to take this
opportunity to let you all know about the many programs that we sponsor
through this Unit.
• AMERICANISM-A major program including all
activities tending to perpetuate American ideals.
• AUXILIARY EMERGENCY FUND-provides emergency assistance to a member
of the American Legion auxiliary.
• CHILDREN AND YOUTH-this program has two primary goals: 1. Care and
protection of children of veterans: 2. Improve conditions of all
children.
• COMMUNITY SERVICE-embraces all activities for improvement of
conditions of life in the community where the Unit is located.
• EDUCATION-supports the basic rights of all children to receive an
appropriate education. The State and National organization offer various
scholarships for veterans and/or children of veterans. Our Unit also
provides scholarships for students in our Community.
• GIRLS STATE is a practical application of Americanism and good
citizenship.
• J UNIORS-They are organized as a committee of the Unit, conduct
their own meetings and carry out their own activities. Their work is
coordinated with the senior group and are given part in regular Unit
activities whenever possible.
• NATIONAL SECURITY-supports our troops, our law enforcement
agencies and our community.
POPPY-provides a financial and therapeutic benefit to hospitalized
and disabled veterans who hand make them, as well as benefiting
thousands of other veterans and their families.
• VA&R OR VETERANS AFFAIRS AND REHABILITATION means the complete
restoration of the veteran and his or her family to normal function and
adjustment-physically, mentally, socially, and vocationally for the
fullest possible life.
The work of the Auxiliary includes
bringing physical comfort and mental cheer to veterans in hospitals,
aiding the disabled and handicapped to earn money for the support of
themselves and their families, and helping to reestablish themselves in
life. We have Chairmen and committees for all of these programs, if you
would like to help or get more information, please call or come to our
meeting on the 2nd Monday of every month.
Until next time.

SHARRON STARR
Auxiliary 2nd Vice
Hello Members,
With this heat it’s hard to believe the end of
summer is closing in on us. Shortly it will be back to school (my
September. theme) for the young ones and back to work for the old ones
or should I say vacations are over.
August 13th the Ladies
Auxiliary is planning a cool
dinner with chicken Kabobs, potato
salad, beans and dessert. So put on your shorts and flip flops and come
on down for the perfect hot summer day meal. Don’t forget the $2.00
discount if your reservation is in by Thursday before the bar closes.

DEBORAH DIRSCOLL
Junior Chairman
All our
girls are enjoying summer vacation, but they are far from idle. Amy
Edwards and Cassidy Griffin are enjoying family vacations,
Hannah
Janji is advancing her education with a special program at Cal State
Long Beach, and Amy Armstrong has spent her time doing volunteer work as
a camp and park counselor.
Even though the girls are busy, we
have started ramping up for our new year. In order to raise money for
our projects, the Juniors have started to sell homemade goodies on Taco
Tuesday-be sure to stop by for some tasty treats to go along with the
fabulous tacos the SALs provide each week.
A big Thank You to the
SALs letting us ride their coattails-they have been very generous in
letting us share their success. A big shout out to Stephanie Janji, who
is now District Junior Chairman. Although she
is no longer officially
co-chair of the Juniors program here, we are still ateam.
More
next month-be sure to mark your calendars for the Junior Auxiliary
dinner on Friday August 20—Thhe Big B dinner—perfect for a hot summer’s
night!
Until then

Junior Chairman
